Dating can be difficult for everyone from time to time, for both heterosexuals and homosexuals.  Very rarely do people marry their college sweethearts and live happily ever after.  But dating can be even more difficult if you are a Lesbian and just coming out.  Not being familiar with the local scene and culture can make it very easy for one to feel uncertain or insecure of what to do and how to act.  Others naturally feel comfortable in almost all situations, so coming out of the closet is a walk in the park.  For those of you who sympathize more with the feeling of the aforementioned, here is some advice to dating the same sex for the first time.

In order to begin your Lesbian dating excursions one must first become familiar with all the local hang outs.  If you are unsure of where these are located, use the Internet to search local community sites.  They can prove to be a good source of information.  Cruise the scene to find coffee houses, bookstores, gyms, bars, restaurants, and even clubs where Lesbian groups gather.  It is sometimes good to immerse yourself in a sea of people when feeling nervous or unsettled.  So, take some time to get to know the area if you do not already.

When you are ready to start dating the Internet can be a good place to begin.  More than ever, online dating services are cater to the interests of gays and Lesbians.  Take advantage of the free services available.  Many people who are not seen around town can be found online.  But be careful not to become a staple of the online dating community.  It is never good to be given such a label.
